I’m not interested in the movies you saw in the theater. Talk to me about the THEATER you saw in the theater.

I saw the original Broadway production of Angels in America in high school and remember the red handkerchief in @jfreewright’s pocket like he slapped me with it.
Also the Guys and Dolls revival with Faith Prince, Nathan Lane, Peter Gallagher, and Josie de Guzman. Floored me in a completely different way.
There are so many as I think about it. Laurie Metcalf in All My Sons at The Geffen. The Lights at The Royal Court in London just before they renovated it and part of the play was tearing the walls apart with crowbars.
The Object Lesson at the Kirk Douglas in which I had to unpack and name every item in my purse. There was a clown nose in there and everyone thought I was a plant. (I wasn’t.) @PJSActor
Art with Victor Garber, Alan Alda, and Alfred Molina when they did it in Hollywood. I saw it at least twice. Still think about it.
Ooh! Thank you for reminding me I saw Steppenwolf’s Buried Child on Broadway, and later I was doing background on the TV movie Wallace starring Gary Sinese and Terry Kinney (directed by John Frankenheiner which is a whole other story) 1/2
One late, cold evening, I gingerly approached Terry to tell him I’d studied the play in college & that was the first time I’d seen the final moment handled so well. He looked at me like I was an alien & took me by the arm over to Gary & said, “This girl knows us from THEATER!”
Also Sleep No More in NYC. Everything about it made me expect to hate it but I was absolutely enthralled.
