Marvin Bagley III (Roll Man -> Per Synergy)
2018-2019: 1.043 PPP / 47th Percentile
2019-2020: 1.132 PPP / 60th Percentile
2020-2021: 0.857 PPP / 20th%
I have mixed feelings about MB3.
I just know I'm not ready to give up on a 21-year old who played his 96th game tonight.

Injuries and a pandemic have made his adjustment to the NBA an odd one.
And while I understand why they're moving in other directions, this roster/personal/etc. isn't the best fit for his game.

I don't have any concrete feelings about his defense, but I do think he's probably best guarding 4's right now.
Offensively, he's a dive guy who can mix in a pop, and someone who could may hit trailer 3's.

I do think he misses some makeable shots at the rim on occasion, but his finishing #'s are fine/good as a whole. He moves well enough that he could eventually offer a wide range of finishes.
Something I'd be curious to see is some delay sets, or even using him more w/ handoffs

I'm imagining ATO's where they empty the corner on the handoff, and I think he could scoot well enough that he could get downhill w/ a fake. His burst does catch defenses off guard.
So, it's clearly unfair to compare him to who was drafted after him, and he's probably not a star.
But we are not looking at a scrub. He has an imperfect, but moldable skillset right now
Let's figure out whether he's a bench big (He's better than Harrell was at 21) or a starter

I don't blame Walton either way for his decision to play or not play MB3, just observing that he isn't being optimized. Maybe it's for the best, but I do think there's room to get more out of him.
Just cherry-picking some guys he may get compared too...
Holmes, Harrell, (Young) Thad Young, Clarke, Collins
He's ahead of the curve, for the most part.
Age of those guys in their rookie season: 22, 22, 19, 23, 20

He is 21 right now, about to turn 22.
Point is, his career is far from being set in stone.
