1/8 Surging #COVID19 hospitalisations & deaths in #Lebanon mean that all eyes are on vaccination, and it’s either a competent roll out or bust, in the words of @firassabiad. Tools like @Impact_gov help ensure its fair, data-driven distribution. But what are people's expectations?
2/8 *Acceptance*
In a sample of 457 people called randomly across Lebanon between 26-28 Jan., 53% stated readiness to take the vaccine.

Perspective: an Ipsos survey of >18,000 adults from 15 countries in Oct. found that 73% would get vaccinated if it were available for all.
3/8 *Inclusivity*
There is little place for discrimination when it comes to vaccination in Lebanon. Seventy eight percent of respondents thought everyone should be eligible for the vaccine. Just 2% said that it should be available only to Lebanese residents.
4/8 Interestingly, only 7% of respondents who said they’d not get vaccinated said it was because they distrust the govt’s ability to handle the rollout campaign. This number can be brought down if authorities are transparent about the vaccine rollout & communicate effectively.
5/8 There's still a long way to go here though. The survey found that 77% of respondents felt Lebanon was late to secure the vaccine. Of those, 67% though that governmental mismanagement was to blame. Overall, 59% had reservations about the govt's ability to manage the process.
6/8 Many additional steps are needed to enhance the coherence of the national policy for vaccination rollout and build trust. Involving local authorities will as always be key.

7/8 Pre-registration is available via https://covax.moph.gov.lb/impactmobile/vaccine. The vaccine is free for all citizens regardless of nationality & residency status. Rollout follows a priority-based mechanism & a supervising committee will monitor the transparency of the process & distribution.
