BACK IN THE DAY, if you made a New Folder on a Korean computer, the folder was automatically named after a bird ("new" in Korean is homonymous w/ "bird"). If you made hundreds, the folders would start "begging" through their names, like "I've run out of bird names," "Please stop"
Then it would just start naming folders with words that just contain "sae" (the homonym for "bird" and "new") but aren't related to birds. Finally the folders would just be named "Stop it," Stop it*30," "Stop it*40," & so on http://www.kookje.co.kr/news2011/asp/newsbody.asp?code=0800&key=20120702.99002175838
This blogger made 1,282 folders to see what they would all say. The names include "Come on now, the experiment stops here," "You're still making [folders]?" "Hmph, you'll regret it if you keep making." The "Stop it" series goes up to 1000 https://blog.naver.com/choijunok1/221575803107
These programmers were so cute lol. I knew this since I also tried doing it on our Windows 98 or whatever but I haven't thought about this for a LONG time
I'm glad so many find this fact cool. Another funny tidbit from this Tree That Never Stops Giving: the folder, at a certain point, checks itself by saying, "Is this a bit weird lol" ("좀 이상한가ㅋㅋ")! Some of you wonder if I'm making all of this up; I'm really not.
I should have said "this tweet really took off"
