If we consider the speed of planets in descending order then the sequence goes as Saturn, Jupiter, Mars,Sun,Venus, Mercury and Moon; where saturn is the slowest while moon is the fastest.

The first new cycle of 24 hours starts with Sun hence first weekday is Sunday. The next new cycle of 24 hours starts with Moon, hence Monday is the second weekday and so on.
