The Delhi High Court has currently stayed the deal between Kishore Biyani's Future Retail and Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries. In August last year, Reliance Industries made a deal of Rs 24,713 crore to buy Future Retail. Jeff Bezos' company, Amazon, objected the deal.

First thing, what did the Delhi High Court say?
Judge JR Midha of the Delhi High Court on Tuesday said that the court needs to urgently issue an interim order to protect the rights of Amazon. He has ordered Future Group to maintain status quo regarding the deal.

That is, until the court's decision, Future Group cannot do anything about this deal. This order of the High Court has come on the petition of Amazon.

Why did Amazon filled this petition?
The deal was signed between Reliance and Future Retail in August 2020.

Amazon approached the Arbitration Court of Singapore against the deal. On 25 October 2020, the Singapore court also stayed the deal.

The Singapore court has also not given any final verdict. The court there may soon give its verdict on this,

as the court said that after stopping the deal in October, it will give a decision in 90 days.

Since this ban was imposed by the Singapore court, Reliance and Future were not bound to obey the order. This was the reason that Amazon had to appeal to the

Future Coupons owned about 10% stake in Future Retail. That is, in a way, Amazon started investing in Future Retail.

further, Amazon approached the court of Singapore to stop the deal.

The court of Singapore stayed the deal. Amazon said that Future Retail struck a deal with Reliance without asking him, which is a violation of the agreement.

Future Retail: Future Retail was not a party to the deal with Amazon, so it has every right to sell its business.

Reliance: The company says that legal advice has been taken before proceeding on the deal with Future and the deal has been completed

Amazon: The deal between Reliance and Future Retail has violated the terms of the deal between Amazon and Future Group.

The company also says that Amazon should have told about this before making a deal with Reliance.

They choose to use other ways to get this deal done by any mean.
