Probably, first thing to address would be the nationalist aspect of Juche. In Kim Jong Il’s essay, “on nationalism”, he declared nationalism a beautiful thing to be celebrated

The Juche Idea has always been centred around a complete abandonment of basic Marxism-Leninism and an obsessive focus on ultranationalism to the point of rejecting internationalism to rehabilitate the national bourgeoise
