It was... *WEIRD* ...to win the caucuses and not the nomination – but when it didn't work out for our guy, the instinct to suit up as #TeamPeteForJoe was instantaneous. I was very proud of that, because it was never just about the individual, it was about saving democracy...
Most of the Iowa team were on their first campaign, and losing / dropping out of a race, whether for city council or for president can be confusing AF for people who uproot their lives to support a cause they believe in – but at the end of the day, this team was about service...
When it was all done – after a few drinks, some dancing, and a little Panic! & Carly Rae Jepson – y'all suited up to go support Joe Biden in states across the country, fighting for your local congressional seats, senate seats, etc. because you knew what was at stake...
And in addition to saving our democracy (the work ain't done, so don't quit now!) – the work you put in helped propel @PeteButtigieg to become the first openly LGBTQ Senate-confirmed cabinet member...
Sometimes when you lose, you don't understand right then what it was all for – but young people today are witnessing one more unjust ceiling shattered & gaining a new understanding of what's possible. That's thanks to you, your commitment, and faith in what's possible. Thank you!
