Every time I've said this in the past, some grump has shown up to tell me I'm excusing mistakes. No. But if you think you haven't made mistakes, may I suggest you... perhaps did not notice them?
Also, you can't be so paralyzed by the fear of mistakes that you don't throw yourself out into the battle. That's a recipe for never advancing.
I know a great way to never make a consequential mistake - never take responsibility for anything. But... that stinks.
A final note: the thing you want to be known for is good judgment. It's a difficult to define quality, but more or less - would you trust this person to handle a case? And you can show judgment through the handling of mistakes.
