A values and priorities exercise you won’t regret: a thread.

Here’s a helpful exercise that can be centering for your life. It can help you identify your values in life, not just philosophically, but in terms of your priorities and goals. Grab a piece of paper, follow along,...
...you won’t regret it:

1. Jot down various domains, including: Family, relationships, career, education, recreation, health, spirituality, community service. Leave off any domains that don’t resonate and add additional ones that do.
2. Next to each, write down, what is...
...important to you in that domain or what you want in it (e.g. “I want to lead a healthy lifestyle that encapsulates healthy eating, having a regular workout routine, and keep up with my various doctors” or “I want a loving romantic relationship where my partner and I...
...support eachother, communicate effectively, and do date night once a month”. Dig deep into, not just the goal, but why’s it’s important to you, and what you would like that domain to look like.
3. Rate on a scale of 1-10 how important the value is.
4. Rate on a scale of...
...1-10 how aligned you are living with that goal. This is NOT meant to make you feel badly; its meant to help you capture what gaps you’d like to fill. Think of what’s getting in the way.
5. Write down (brief bullets, or journaling paragraphs), where you can re-invest...
...current energy and emotional expenditures into higher priorities values, from ones less aligned with your values.
6. Turn whatever you can into small and sustainable goals to work towards. And for anything else, more forward in your life thinking about your time, energy,...
...and emotions as money: “is this a fund I want to invest in or there is a more valuable place for it”.

This can and should be a fluid process and one that make change in the seasons of your life. Use it as a compass and let it guide you.

And then, feel empowered to go live.
