Let me say this again, both sides of the re-opening debate are using Black kids as justification when in truth, many of these same entities on BOTH sides were not advocating for Black kids before & were quite content to sustain the unequal systems that the pandemic exacerbated.

You can’t talk about the racial makeup of the parents pushing most aggressively for school re-openings and then ignore the racial makeup of teachers in these same districts. You all can ignore that for whatever political purposes you see fit, but I won’t.

You can ignore that the cafeteria workers and janitorial staff who’ve been in these buildings feeding kids all through the pandemic are almost entirely Black and brown, but I won’t. Or the low-wage childcare workers who go to work everyday.
