1/ Let's talk about conspiracy theories for a second. It's been a popular subject on the news in Canada, not just in the USA, in the last year.
2/ Radio-Canada, government-owned media in Canada, aired a documentary demonstrating that it is NORMAL to believe in conspiracy theories. We are all prone to believe in conspiracy theories because that has been helpful from an evolutionary standpoint.
3/ The documentary says we are looking for answers, we tend to not trust those in power, and we establish links between disparate events where no such link exists.
4/ From that we come up with conspiracy theories. There is no "reading the writing on the wall" here. The brain collects more information that confirms the bias we have, that supports the conspiracy theories.
