Ok like, I don't hate Chrissy Teigen and I actually have a lot of respect for her and how she made public the pain of losing her unborn child--for those of us who have been there, it helps to see it spoken about so bluntly and truthfully

BUT
She frames herself as BEING relatable. Like. That's the persona she projects, the "look at me I make silly mistakes and do ridiculous things I'm That Kind of Mom" who is only funny if they ARE relatable.

Like compare her to other rich ppl
The Kardashians are vampires but they have never tried to brand themselves as relatable. It's not...good honesty, but it is honesty when they share Instagram photos of the 4,000$ backpack they bought for their child.
And the thing is being one precludes being the other. If you've built yourself up by being relatable to the masses then pull back and remind us how your life is different because you are rich it's...not a good look!
It makes the other stuff look fake. And kinda condescending! The fact that you can slip between being the cool relatable mom friend and the rich person who gets 13,000$ wine means you can't inhabit the same world as the ppl you wanna speak like
And like, it's not "different experiences."

It's a different world. Utterly alien to those of us who are not rich. It's a world which is even more alien thanks to COVID.
And you can be rich and likable! People like, idk, Chris Evans and he's rich! People like lots of celebrities and movie stars and performers who are rich!

And some of these ppl even pretend to have the same problems as us!

But CT has done more than that--it's her brand
CT's tweeting from a world where there may be turmoil and there certainly can be unhappiness and pain and loss and grief but there is always always always security.

And telling ppl she has "different experiences" just...makes the mask slip a bit.
Anyway these are too many words for me to have written about someone who I have nothing to do with so send tweet
