As I waited in the car park beside the Glasgow @NHSLouisaJordan as my dad was in to get his vaccine, for around 90mins... I watched hundreds of people around my age come and go with their relatives or friends who are older or frail.
It made me think a lot about the sheer scale of the vaccination task in play not just here. What an almighty effort this is to coordinate and deliver. It also made me wonder about people’s stories as I watched them come and go. Especially those who were there alone.
When my dad came out he was quite impacted by the hundreds of people around him waiting for their first jab of hope in fighting #Covid19UK. He talked a lot on the way home about the chat he had with those around him. One woman fainted;another was short of breath. He tried to help.
As did others. But the stewards and staff had it under control. He thanked the final steward before he went to the nurse and gave her an elbow shake! She said ‘you’ve made my day... thanks for seeing me here’. Dad said the couple of people behind him then did the same.
Thanks to every single front line worker today and in other vaccine sites across the country standing for hours and hours giving people hope. An incredible duty to take on for us all...today my dad saw it in action. And I’m glad he’s here to be able to do that given his health 🙏
