I like my sentences short. I HATE flowery language. Though one time, as a challenge, I wrote a 500-word flash, with just one period. It was a comma extravaganza. And quite challenging.
I don’t use semi-colons or colons in my fiction. In my mind they weaken. I like periods. Period.
Great writing seems effortless. You know when it’s labored. You feel it. And it’s a strain, a pain to read.
