Less than a month to go until HALO: POINT OF LIGHT (the next book by the marvellous @KellyHGay!) releases.

Let's do a quick recap thread on the story of 343 Guilty Spark AFTER Halo 3, which has unfolded over the last decade...
At the end of Halo 3, we shoot Guilty Spark in the face with a Spartan Laser and he blows up. RIP.

One year later, in November 2553 (about a year after the Covenant war), ONI detects a distress signal coming from the Ark and they send a ship to investigate.
They head to the source of this distress signal and recover the remains of Guilty Spark, who is interrogated about humanity's origins and our history with the Didact.

We've always known there is more to Guilty Spark's story, and the the Forerunner Saga explores that.
100,000 years ago, Guilty Spark was a human named Chakas.

He helped a young Forerunner named Bornstellar release the Didact, which set in motion the final events that led to the Halo rings being fired to destroy all life in the galaxy in order to defeat the Flood.
Chakas was severely injured when the rogue AI known as Mendicant Bias hooked his mind up to Installation 07 (AKA Zeta Halo, which we're visiting in Halo Infinite) to help ensure the ring can't complete its self-destruct protocol when it falls into enemy hands.
Chakas was saved by Bornstellar, who had inherited the memories and wisdom of the Didact, and used the Composer (the device we see in Halo 4 which also created the Promethean Knights) to save him, which is when he goes on to become our favourite lightbulb.
When Chakas was given charge of Installation 04 (the ring from Halo 1), his memories and personality was suppressed because of the intimate secrets he had of the Flood, the Forerunners, and more.

This compartmentalisation birthed a new personality - 343 Guilty Spark.
That laser to the face he took in Halo 3 killed 343 Guilty Spark and reawakened the old memories of Chakas that had been hidden away for millennia.

He tells the ONI crew that he has found the Librarian, puts them to sleep, and steals the UNSC Rubicon for his mission.
This is where Kelly Gay's books pick up. Halo: Renegades follows his search for the Librarian, which is where he meets Rion Forge (daughter of Sergeant Forge from Halo Wars) around the time of Halo 4.

Their journey together has them on the run from both the Covenant and ONI.
Transferred to the body of an armiger (like the Promethean Soldiers in Halo 5), he comes to choose the name 'Spark' for himself and has the chance to grow as his own person now alongside Rion and her crew, who agree to help him find the Librarian.
This culminates in finding a data ghost - a personality imprint - of the Librarian back on Earth, where she died when the Halos fired. She gives him a coordinate key and a new mission before she leaves.

"Find what's missing. Fix the path. Right what my kind has turned wrong."
HALO: POINT OF LIGHT will continue this story.

Set in August 2558 (two months before Halo 5), they're still on the run from ONI and seek to fulfil Spark's mission.

The book will release MARCH 2nd 2021.

Oh, and the audiobook is being narrated by Spark himself, @davocal1!
Make no mistake, this is one of the coolest, most rewarding parts of Halo's story and lore. Watching this unfold over the last TEN YEARS has been insane, and Kelly Gay's books have made it clear that we're just getting started.
