The data shows that care home residents are 8 times more likely to die of Covid than people over 80 in the community. The JCVI recommend this group is prioritised first

Each member of this vulnerable group needs a history taken and consent gained for the immunisation. Many of these residents have dementia or other cognitive deficits. Medical notes often have to be referred to. Family with power of attorney need to be included

The press on both sides of the border have delighted in loudly proclaiming that the Scottish vaccine programme is "lagging" while choosing to completely ignore the difference in priorities placed on different demographic groups between the two countries

But it is very difficult to determine what that actually means, and no data has been published to my knowledge on the proportion of English care home residents who have actually received their jag. I suspect it's still quite low
