3 ordinances were being passed during Parliament Monsoon session regarding farmer laws

Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce Act provides for setting up a mechanism allowing the farmers to sell their farm produces outside Agriculture Produce Market Committees (APMCs). Any licence-holder trader can buy the produce from the farmers at mutually agreed prices.

This trade of farm produces will be free of mandi tax imposed by the state governments.

Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act allows farmers to do contract farming and market their produces freely.

Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act is an amendment to the existing Essential Commodities Act. This law now frees items such as foodgrains, pulses, edible oils and onion for trade except in extraordinary (read crisis) situations.

Now farmers can sell their products directly to any private market without middle man. But the problem is they want govt to decide MSP ~ Minimum Selling Price of each crop

There are MSPs decided for few crops by Govt but not for all. It's complicated to decided MSPs for wheat, pice, paddy, pulses etc...

Govt already compensates for loss they suffer due to MSPs in APMCs...As under govt schemes, wheat, rice etc is being distributed to BPL - Below Poverty Line people...Thus loss of FCI is being compensated by GoI

Diary farmers who sell milk, cheese products etc...Fruit farmers (grapes, mangoes etc) don't need such assurance of MSPs....As both are making enough profit....Doing exports too... Problem is with crop farmers due to MSP assurance

Mostly Punjab & Haryana farmers are protesting as region is dominated by crop farmers of wheat, paddy, rice etc...New farmer laws will eliminate the significance of middle men, so they're joining protests too

After 10 rounds of debate with govt...Few kisan unions still not agreed with T&Cs and amendments made by Govt...Proposal of postponing new laws for 1.5 years is also rejected

I hope situation will get to normal. Fear mongering & LW-RW making this issue shift towards something else
