ICYMI: Lots on our systemic and individual failures to get vaccines right now to those that needs them most. Sharing pieces from the week (so far) that really resonated w/ me. MUST lead with equity while desperately needing to make this process more efficient and accessible.

Starting with this fantastic piece by @oni_blackstock and @uche_blackstock, who provide clear actions to “to ensure that Black Americans are not left out of the vaccine rollout process.” @washingtonpost https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/02/01/racial-inequality-covid-vaccine/
@thrasherxy writes about how “There needs to be less collective thinking along the line of “I better get mine” and more proactive collective planning to make sure people who need vaccines the most desperately are getting them.” https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/if-youve-been-working-from-home-please-wait-for-your-vaccine1/
And a piece with similar themes from @greggonsalves discussing both US and global inequities in the vaccine response and parallels to the HIV pandemic. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/02/vaccine-line-illogical/617881/
Finally, @nataliesurely writes about the essential public health principle of meeting people where they are (literally), with an example showing it can be done! https://www.thenation.com/article/society/vaccine-distribution-inequality/
Our in the US tends to more about "I" than "us". But viruses don't care either way. We continue to all be in this together & must use our voices & actions to demand equitable & efficient vaccine roll out, while continuing to promote effective prevention measures.
