I don’t follow his streams and the one thing that bothered me about him was when he claimed he does more for the community than people who do on the ground activism. & as someone who works as an intervention worker and has seen more than he has in his lifetime, I was fucking mad.
Just to clarify: there’s many ways you can help out in the community without being on the ground and I’m not dismissing what anyone is doing but Xan, this isn’t a competition. You’re not better than others and you’re not doing more than others. This is a collective effort.
So it appears he searched Blaire’s deadname in front of thousands of viewers even when they were telling him not to. Blaire is a pos but it’s already established that misgendering, searching for dead names, are never okay and it didn’t start being cool when you hate someone.
I watched the stream. The entire time he: ignored many valid criticisms from his own gf and others in the chat. Then when Noah was saying how he shouldn’t have talked about Abigail’s tits like that, Xan tried to turn it on Noah without acknowledging it.
I know he’s young and he seems incredibly stubborn. But if this is how you react to criticisms, why be some hot shot streamer then? Why speak up about anything trans related when you refuse to listen to the very trans people you made uncomfortable with your rhetoric?
He should know better than to also use the: but some trans people are fine with this because that’s the same shit people like Blaire, Candace and other horrible people use to justify their takes. (Not sure if he used this but just wanted to add this if he tries to)
Now for anyone that wants to be known for speaking up for marginalized communities, part of that privilege is to listen to them when they are uncomfortable with something, listen to their experiences, learn. If you can’t accept this basic request, don’t be a streamer.
