I mean, another thing to say is that this is just how culture - especially academic culture - works.
I remember when the material/environmental dimensions of computing and the Internet was a real revelation.
But then others jump on the bandwagon + insight decreases.

A friend and I have talked about how we need investigations of how ideas go from being real insights to becoming - through overuse among other causes - silly/dumb/etc.
You could call the paper "The Story of Co-Production." (JOKES!!!!!)
