Farm Bill 2020 – The Punjab Angle

When the Farm Bill protest started, the first question which crossed my mind was “Why only Punjab?”

So I started my investigation, read Farm Bill many time and

discussed in length with my farmer friends in UP, Bihar, Haryana and Punjab. I had already written in detail about MSP and PAN in bills.

We discussed many issues from MSP to land to storage & private players. We also understood that 70% procurement of crop is by

Government, which is used for PDS system.

One response which shocked me was when my Punjab friend, a farmer in Punjab told me that 90% of crop for personal use they bring in from UP, MP, Rajasthan & Bihar. This rang alarm bells because it didn’t sink well with me that the

farmer who is growing crop is not consuming it. My friend told me that Punjab crop is toxic in nature.

I started researching on food items in my own kitchen like Rice, Dal and wheat and what I discovered is that none of these items are from Punjab but

UP, MP & Bihar

This was the time when I came to know about Cancer Express, Hospitals and that the maximum number of Cancer patient in Punjab suffering from some kind of cancer especially the farmers.

My first stop was Google and I read this statement “Everyday, the

dimly lit and shabby Bhatinda railway station in the Indian state of PUNJAB comes to life sharp at 9 pm. The reason? The arrival of a passenger train that’s been long christened as the Cancer train on platform no 2”

I immediately called up one of my friends in Germany, a

professor who had a world in Malwa belt and asked her if she had any research.

This is what she shared which blew up my mind completely along with many research papers that you can read on the internet.
Malwa belt in Punjab has maximum cancer patients, Doaba & Majha

after Malwa. Women suffer max from breast cancer, Men blood cancer, prostate cancer & colon cancer.

Reasons: Underground water not only contaminated with pesticides but also heavy metals. Even water of Faridkot. The farmers are not much educated so they use 10-20 times

more of the required pesticides. The banned pesticides are still available in the market. This is due to the greed of growing more than the soil can give in a natural way.

The maximum dera followers from the Malwa belt reason they expect miracle cure of cancer from Deras.

She was approached in 2009 to set up a mobile lab for qualitative analysis of underground water in Bathinda by DSS followers.
Despite two cancer hospitals in Malwa one in Sangrur other in Bathinda ( I guess Tata), one in 100 is suffering from cancer.

Lymphoma among youths is on rise.

Metals like mercury, uranium exceeds the minimum limit. Thousands of patients who used to visit Sirsa hospital. Younger patient age 9 with retinoblastoma.

Apart from cancer there are many patients HPV ( virus causes cervical cancer) &

HIV. It requires minimum a decade to clean the soil & water in Punjab.

Medical waste not treated well cause radioactive pollution in Punjab. Uranium, Fluoride, lead, mercury & nickel present in the underground water in Malwa.

The dera, panthic people, illiteracy, etc

resulted in present Punjab. I still do not find light in the end of the Tunnel. Despite efforts, our voices were unheard.

People are in bad shape. Never forget these Deras are in control of Politicians, Powerful people, very rich farmers (thekadars) etc
We know

thousands of patients. Cancer specialists on ground zero ( Bathinda ) can provide latest numbers if needed from Advance Cancer institute Mansa road, Bhathinda

There is direct co-relation between heavy metals & mental disorders. Punjab has witnessed a rise in such cases

among rural population.

Malwa belt.. water contaminated, grains contaminated people consume liquor, non -veg, therefore, biomagnification of pesticide. . Cancer, bipolar disorder & dementia..... and Alzheimer too.

Sugar & wheat molasses for alcohol production is

already contaminated with pesticides & heavy metal. With fermentation bioavailability in blood increased. And remember Badals run the alcohol business in Punjab.

Gurubani says… "Pavan Guru Paani Pita Mata Dharat Mahat"...Air is the Guru, Water is the father, the great

Earth is our Mother" but the greed had forgotten all this and now we stand on the disaster. Now imagine with such a toxic crop, the Farm Bills is last nail in coffin of Punjab. Once farmers are free to sell crops anywhere in India

without dalals, the Punjab produce will suffer big time hitting the rich farmers, Dalals and politicians.

In next 5 years or so once the nation’s earning potential increase at bottom of pyramid and DBT reach to the last man in line, people will have money to buy best

they can afford. This means the PDS system in 5 to 10 years will not be the Preferred choice which will make PDS redundant and who will suffer, PUNJAB which sells 70% of produce to Government for PDS

This is why you witnessed Farm Bill 2020 protest mostly by Punjab and

saw expensive SUVs & Tractors in Rally and dharna. Because these people are worried apart from commission agents and mandi dalals

The actual farmers small or big have no issues what so ever
The participation by AAP and Tikat is not about Farm Bills but Jat consolidation

in Haryana and western UP

I don’t have any figures or numbers but most of these protestors from Punjab are from Malwa region & this union is AAP-Malwa nothing else.

Always remember, In India any protest has multiple subject built into one against one person.

Farm

protest has many stake holders and everyone has a different agenda.

China wants to be world food basket

Pakistan wants to break Punjab hence khalistan

Congress is about commission and vote bank for 2022 election & Rahul accepted as PM Candidate if the protest is

successful

Priyanka Vadra target is UP Election

AAP, on the ground logistic provider for all above three interested in Malwa, Jat in UP & Haryana

Tikat want to build his lost political career in UP

And for all this, they have a common target…….. @narendramodi

because in the last 6 years what he did was simple. He removed middleman from every business

hence the farm bill not only improve the farmer income but quality of crop leading to healthy nation reducing the pharma dependencies & state expenses on it
