Look bubbees- I know Seasonal Affective Disorder is in full swing & productivity is just another cult worshipping at the altar of the market, but I promise you- getting a few things done today will make you feel better.

Here's our Working From Home Tips: Part 2
1/
Park Downhill: Love this one. When yr reaching a stopping point at the end of the day, don't fully complete a task. Get a small start on a task or leave a task half-done. This way when yr restarting in the morning, you'll know exactly where to start (on the half-done task!) 2/
Set hours that work for you: Not hours that work for everyone. Not everyone is a morning person. If yr a night owl- own it. Work at the time when yr brain & body are at their best & use an email scheduler or work with clients in different timezones to make it work. 3/
Differentiate Urgent from Important: This graf is perfect, but if you can quickly tell which tasks need your attention & which don't, or can wait- this will easily help you schedule out your day/week. 4/
Move Around!
Do different tasks in different spaces. This one is so helpful in switching gears from sketch mode to email mode to painting mode. Yr desk isn't the only place that gets Wi-Fi or good light- if yr feeling stuck, MOVE!

Know the difference btwn Deep & Shallow work: Which tasks take the most time, brain & emotional energy & which don't? You want to be at your best (well-rested & fed) for the deep work, while the shallow work, you can do while waiting on feedback or if yr groggy in the morning 6/
Sidebar: This was in one of our reading lists. We HIGHLY rec Cal Newport's book Deep Work for a better understanding of how important making space for uninterrupted long stretches of work time is. With artists we're preaching to the choir. Y'all know. 7/ https://bookshop.org/books/deep-work-rules-for-focused-success-in-a-distracted-world/9781455586691
Set a SPECIFIC TIME to check emails or do other administrative tasks. Working from home means the lines between on the clock & off the clock get blurred. Set personal boundaries around when yr available to clients, especially with open access points like email.

Get some Exercise! Especially for yr back! As artists we work in ways that DESTROY our spines. Make an effort to stretch & work those back & butt muscles & if you can, invest in a standing desk!

Yr Brain Desires Change: If one task is a total pain- move onto something else! You won't get anywhere struggling through. Give it a break & come back to it with fresh eyes. This is the easiest way to make yr workday a little better. If you're yr own boss, be a good one!

Instead of benefits, you get naps. Take them!
This is the hill we will die on: take naps when & where you can get them.
