I have been hearing of an increasing number of Bible college graduates/students who went to school to “train” for vocational ministry, but for a varying number of reasons no longer serve (or never served) on a church staff. IF THIS IS YOU...
1. You did not waste your time in training. God used that season to work some things in and out of you.
2. Don’t feel guilty. Your usefulness for God is not based on a staff position you hold.
3. You have great (and many times greater) potential for missional impact. You are most likely surrounded by more people who don’t know Jesus than your graduate friends serving on a church staff.
4. You are extremely valuable to your pastor. Your perspective, wisdom, and input can help make your church more effective for God‘s kingdom.
5. Your church needs you. Discipling others is less about what you do and more about who you are. Live life-on-life with the people in your gospel community, and watch as God uses you to lead them closer to Jesus!
