For the past few days I have been mass-unsubscribing from email lists. I don’t need to be hit up for donations for political candidates who aren’t up for re-election for 21 months. I don’t need updates on travel companies I haven’t purchased anything from in eight years.
I had not expected just how much relief I would feel to be free of the clutter.
No idea why it hadn’t occurred to me to do this earlier. But wow things are better now. Highly recommend the digital housekeeping.
It also feels like I am closing out the Trump era. I remained on those politics email lists to be open to opposing Trump in any way I could. But their emotional/psychological effect was to intensify, even maximise, the daily trauma.
I really am done with feeling constantly fried.
One week on, still unsubscribing from lists. The most amazing discovery: I had gotten so accustomed to the incessant volume of emails that I hadn’t grasped how little I have actually been using email.
Most personal conversations for example migrated to other apps years ago.
