Bulimia Bloating
If your body doesnât have enough energy your digestion slows down and your gastrointestinal tract shuts down and weakens. This can cause swelling in the abdomen and elsewhere.
It is NOT weight gain and usually passes in the first few weeks!

Constipation
Nobody really likes talking about this one but for many of the same reasons as bloating (gastrointestinal tract weakness) you may experience gas, constipation and/or diarrhoea. Do not try to flush your system with laxatives this will cause detrimental dehydration.

Insomnia
Chances are with the increase of anxiety and stress surrounding recovery and experiencing side affects, your sleep pattern is going to be affected. This may cause fatigue and dizziness which is not pleasant but not abnormal.

Appetite Fluctuations
Youâre very likely to flip between extreme hunger and no appetite even from hour to hour throughout the day. Remember to eat at least what you can and try to build up to eating at regular intervals.

Discomfort
Especially if you experience bloating youâre likely to have discomfort or a stretching feeling in your abdomen. If this becomes painful you may want to see a doctor (you could have done serious damage).

Nausea
Especially if you have a history of purging, keeping down meals is going to be difficult at first. Battling that nausea is an important step but take it slow and remember that recovery isnât always a straight line.

Please try to remember that these things are normal and signify your body repairing itself. It may not be easy but this is natural and you will come out of this stronger.
