Someone who just sent me a demo for NEM asked me for advice on best practice for sending music to labels. To be fair he did most things what I would consider ‘correct’ but here’s what I shared with him. Could be useful to you if you’re a new artist trying to get music signed...
1. Send your demo as a streaming link (I prefer soundcloud or dropbox). Having to download a WeTransfer or zipped file might honestly be too much time for some A&Rs!!
2. A short, polite & direct (‘send to all’ is a big no no!) e mail introducing yourself & where you’re from

3. 1 strong demo! Put your best foot forward
A&Rs don’t have time to go through links with 10/20 demos every time. If they want more they will ask and if you are to send multiple tracks then no more than 3.

There are other things to consider and I’m sure other labels will have their opinion but these are just mine. I think as a general top 3 pointers, they should serve you well.
