The United States is #ScotchWhisky’s most valuable export market, but since tariffs were imposed 15mths ago the cost to our industry has been significant.

This graph shows the monthly losses that have led to the half-billion drop in exports, announced yesterday.
There are people and places behind these figures: distillers in Scotland, and supply chain companies across the UK, for whom the US market is vital.

We spoke to #ScotchWhisky and American Whiskey distillers on why free trade is so important, and why we need to #CallTimeOnTariffs
The impact of Covid19 has hit producers already hurting from the impact of tariffs,on both sides of the Atlantic. We worked with @DistilledSpirit last year to tell the story of some of the distillers who've had to adapt their plans during what’s been “a terrible time for tariffs”
The losses our industry has endured are “unsustainable”, says @KarenEBetts, and distillers need a resolution to urgently be found to this aerospace dispute so unrelated sectors, like #ScotchWhisky, can be removed from harm.
Our industry is shouldering a huge burden, amounting to £500m in lost exports so far. We’re asking @RishiSunak @hmtreasury to #SupportScotch in next month’s #Budget2021, cut spirits duty, and deliver some relief to hard-hit distillers across #Scotland.
