when you work with syrian orgs providing vital services inside, and are at the risk of a having funding/entire programmes suddenly stopped because an employee *had to* interact with a HTS person - because western grant programmes operate without complete understanding of warzones
when the orgs desperately attempt to make sure vulnerable people inside relying on them won’t be affected as they plead with the int donors - as they’re literally torn between the restrictions and the convoluted situation inside which can’t be operated in a black & white setting
we have white people, westerners, journos, whatever they may be called, strutting around meeting the very people who *we* as Syrians can’t talk to should we be accused of terrorism, even if just to come to an agreement to make living in warzones easier for those who can’t leave
the sheer madness? that the same people who threaten lives of Syrians more than anyone else, who those *threatened* Syrians can’t negotiate with should THEIR livelihood also be taken away from ‘donors’, are able to talk to white people & white people to them, with NO consequences
what a sick twisted mad world, this is.
