How Leeds United tactically dominated Leicester City?
-BUILDUP TACTICS-
- Back 3 w/ one FB high along opp. 2nd line
- CBs spreading horizontally creating more distance for opp. CF(s) to press
- DM/Kalvin central-->creates passing lane to the wide FB
- Wide overloads & triangles in 2nd phase
-EXAMPLE-
- LUFC create a back 3 with RB/Alioski joining both the CBs.
- DM/Kalvin positions himself central --> bring opp. 1st line of press narrow--> passing lane open to the high and wide full back-RB/Ayling
(1/4)
RB/Ayling receives and gets the time+space on the ball due to his positioning + opp. Ws narrow as in the above image b/w LWB/Barnes & LW/Maddison
(2/4)
- RW/Raphinha and RCM/Rodrigo come wide creating a wide overload and a 3v3 situation.
- Triangle forms between Raphinha, Rodrigo and Alioski facilitating quick circulation and if Leeds lose the ball--> it will be followed by a quick counter-press
