State Capture - Thread:

Many people think that state capture is the relationship between private companies (Guptas) and SOEs - it is not.

The real state capture happened in 1997 with the ANC policy of cadre deployment.
Cadre deployment is a simple concept, it is a policy where the ANC deploys cadres to all levers of power in society:
Boards of SOEs
Police
NPA
SARS etc

Deployments are made through deployment committees at Luthuli House.
Ramaphosa says that he was an innocent bystander while Zuma wreaked havoc. That’s a lie.

Ramaphosa was the Chairperson of the Deployment Committee from 2013 till 2017.
In that period, the following people were deployed:
Shaun Abrahams at the NPA

Brian Molefe at Eskom

Dudu Myeni at SAA (appointed just before Cyril became chairperson but lasted until 2015).

Malusi Gigaba as Minister of Finance.

The list is too long.
Ramaphosa had a key and active role in determinng who was deployed where. He partook in all the decisions that gave us ‘state capture’.

The Zondo Commission has shown the destructive nature of cadre deployment and it’s effects on South Africa.
In fact, I argue that Ramaphosa perfected cadre deployment and is directly complicit in the consequences for South Africa.

He is not the ‘good’ ANC, he is the real ANC.
