some facial skin care tips that i’ve accumulated with experience/research!

✨wash with warm water and then rinse with cold. it “seals” your pores by shrinking them and prevents extra entry of bad bacteria
✨apply oil ~> serum ~> lotion, allow your skin to breathe/dry inbetween
✨if you don’t have really big gunky pores like i do, you probably don’t even need to exfoliate. for the big pored folks out there, once or twice a week is plenty. use a CHEMICAL exfoliant and avoid anything with sugar/beads/salts as they’re very damaging and cause micro-tears
cont- a great, gentle chemical exfoliant subset are PHAs (poly-hydroxy acids) which are smoothing, anti-aging, minimize pigmentation & ofc unclog pores. when buying a PHA product MAKE SURE gluconolactone and lactobionic acids are NOT in the ingredient list (harsher exfoliants)
✨cleansing balms/micellar water over makeup wipes!!! wipes are very rough and speed up the aging / wrinkling process
some basic ones i have to include:
✨wear sunscreen everyday!!! if it’s only included in your foundation or bb cream it’s not enough. at LEAST spf 30 but i recommend stronger
✨DRINK SOME MF WATER. add lemon for a boost of collagen (fewer wrinkles), & a fighter against toxins
✨on the topic of lemon, never ever ever put lemon on ur face. pls. ignore the articles you’re gonna burn tf out of your skin and get hella sun damage.
✨again, if you don’t have overly oily skin or clogged pores, you probably don’t need a toner. (cont)
(cont) if you do use a toner, witch hazel is the best option. make sure it doesn’t have any alcohol in it, and rose of any sort is a plus!
✨drink more chamomile (improves sleep, powerful antioxidant quercetin, can place warm tea bags under eyes to reduce bags/puffiness) , jasmine (strong antioxidants & antibacterial properties to boost immune system, dilates blood vessels allowing nutrients to reach the face) cont
(cont) and green tea, which is full of sun fighting agents like free radical-neutralizing antioxidants which protects your skin from sun damage as well as promoting collagen creation, keeping your skin nice and firm for longer :-)
✨if you really struggle with acne breakouts, definitely monitor the amount of dairy you’re consuming. they cause an increase of oil production in your skin.
✨ don’t underestimate the power of sleep. get at LEAST 8 hours every night. i’m srs y’all
✨this one is random but stay away from foam cleansers! i’ve read that they really tend to cause sensitivity & dry out your skin. they really put your pH balance outta whack. the ingredients are always extremely harsh.
✨lastly, make sure you’re listening to your skin. if it’s irritated and overly sensitive get back to the basic and remove any unnecessary products until you can figure out the culprit. if you’re super oily, you need more moisture in your routine and likely less exfoliating!
(cont) is you have dry patches consider adding a good oil to the regime. (if you need recommendations dm me!
if you’re somewhere in between, play around with both and figure out what works for you. treat your skin with care, eat your greens and get plenty of sleep
i don’t have any good recent examples bc snapchat filters exist but i’ve always had trouble with acne, super oily and yet i still had dry patches. recent reference below :3
oh yeah if anyone needs help crafting a personalized skin care routine i’d love to help you out. it would just be tip based, since i would do my research and find you good, unique products for your skin and write up how they should work & how to use them in what order
