Can @poetrymagazine publish murderers? Can they publish carjackers? Rapists? What is the line of people that cannot have poems published. I'm doing this gig with the NY Times Magazine and I regret admitting that I didn't google anyone's criminal record. I'm going to start now.

And so, as I embark on these background checks, please clue me in on what's impermissible. I just need to know what cannot be forgiven that you ain't laying hands on somebody for.

And also, I need to know the limits of abolitionist rhetoric. Cause, the same people saying abolition one minute and crying foul the next, I gotta get things right.

Personally, when I want vengeance, I just admit that shit. And then say, I only kill small insects. Rather have the state do what I'm too afraid God won't forgive me for. But name the punishments you want in your name.

I mean voice them joints out loud. Let's get this aired out. Who should die in a cold cell. I can give you eleven names if I know you well enough. For true. People I think should never take five steps without barbed wire around them. Will you name those who you want to condemn?

This is all fantasy. All of a fashion. I asked once, why a man was convicted of attempted second degree assault when the facts said he raped a woman. The answer: she was poor and black.

I have no mercy, remorse, or abolition for this rapist. He can go off and live a good life in a corner cell. So let's all admit the limits of our rhetoric. No, let's not blame @poetrymagazine and the editors for not googling criminals. Let's admit the truth:

We want everyone to be googled. And let's provide a list of the things you won't be forgiven for. Something doper and more articulate than the ten commandments.

But we won't. I put a gun to someone's head. My house is not made of glass. It is made of the shit that drives men mad.
