Oregon is still failing to meet any climate goals. Knowing this, the 2017 #orleg "laid the groundwork to make the problem worse, by approving a new transportation finance package providing upwards of a billion $ to widen Portland area freeways." https://cityobservatory.org/happy-groundhogs-day-2021/
Expanding freeways was a bad decision then and it's a worse decision now. @OregonGovBrown has an opportunity to help move our transportation system in the right direction (less driving & more walking, biking, and transit) by choosing an OTC Commissioner who'll prioritize climate.
Because the I5 Rose Quarter freeway expansion hasn't happened yet, the 2021 Oregon Legislature can still listen to the numerous advocates and orgs who oppose it and reallocate funding for better uses (there are so many!). It would be a rare, real step in reducing emissions.
