If we all agree that the pros play a different game from us, (whatever that means in your mind) and that distance gains only pertain to them, then bifurcate the sport entirely and be done with it. OEMs will know how to respond, and the casual player is spared.
I have no doubt multiple arguments could be made as to why previous tweet "is wrong." But every single piece of tech in last 20 years (at least) has boasted more distance and forgiveness. Yet we're shocked distance is being looked at now?
Clearly the majority of golfers want to enjoy the game in their own way. So allow them to do so with a different rule book, as appropriate. Let's stop pretending all golfers are on the same level. It's simply not the case.
There's a lot to love about golf, and a lot to improve. It is imperfect. There is no right answer to the distance issue, and it will become an issue at the pro level. It has to eventually. Otherwise we've all been lied to by brands for years.
Comparing Avg Joe to Tour Pro is the worst way to look at this whole debate. Apples to oranges. Majority of us don't "Live Under Par," so let's stop thinking we are even in the same conversation as pros. Bifurcate, bifurcate, bifurcate.
