In some countries better than others - but in all cultures that pay lip service to capitalism, government provides some collective services it needs remain stable (social security, roads, police, medical services to a point). They just have to pretend that they don't.

Fascinating & perverse that US Dept of Energy funded development of Teslas as a climate change mitigation effort, but because the population is so anti-gov spending, the funding had to go to private industry - i.e. Elon Musk, feeding a narcissist monster.

The thing I find fascinating about that is that the drive to cut gov services/taxes comes from three places: the ultra rich, gov representives and ordinary people who have been sold on the idea that their issues are caused by their being taxed.

It doesn't generally come from public servants, who often are trying to patch social holes and make things work better within the constrains they've been given.

That's why the Canberra electorates are very safe Labor seats. Anyways...
