Interesting questions. A thread. https://twitter.com/DurrantNiall/status/1356570468409614336
Narratives through milestones are largely positive reflecting the trainee, consultant engagements, MTI initiatives, EDI work some to name. Bringing in voices of children, young people and parents by @RCPCH_and_us is beautiful and heart warming. 1/
College has worked hard in relatively small time frame in bringing together EDI reference group, creating work streams trying to bring in equity. Through EDI meetings realise that the realms of HEE, college and GMC and thus what is offered by each one of them is different. 2/
Following ‘Turning the tide’ report, recent launch of RCPCH research network bringing together regional research networks will provide better opportunities for the trainees promoting academic clinicians of future. 3/
As much as one would want an organisation to remain voluntary, there are costs of space hire, travel expenses, costs of building resources, Eportfolio, GRID/SPIN modules, building/ maintaining websites, administrative costs, etc. ARCPs / portfolios have been improved with time.4/
ARCPs remain regional and panels have engaged in constructive feedback. It could be a tick box exercise or repository of useful resources with learning over the period of training, putting one’s own reflective pieces and being a mentor for other trainees as one fills in WBA. 5/
Regional workshops are supported by college for recruitment drive for our FY trainees with career advice and interview practice. 6/
Yes lots of things still could be and should be improved, and it’s up to us as trainees as to how we engage, shape it and be the part of our future. 7/ End
