Senator Boyer in the #azleg BEGAN discussion on #SB1452 by showing a video of John Lewis on Edmund Pettus Bridge and having a Civil Rights leader, Dr. Matthews I believe, to justify ESAs. 1/
@robodellaz and other @12News reporters have shown that ESAs have benefitted whiter more affluent communities. Additionally, they showed about 5% of ESA users came from D or F rated schools. 2/
Sen. @jamescita Peshlakai called the introduction, as an long-time advocate for BIPOC students and students in low-income communities, "offensive." I couldn't agree more. 3/
She said that too often legislators bring these issues to the forefront when individuals stand to benefit monetarily. We are not convinced by @PaulDBoyer attempt at saviorism to hold up a Black Civil Rights leader as being the token to push privatization. 4/
Education advocates from @arizona_sos @AEARetired @ArizonaEA @AeuRed @allinedaz and others have been advocating for ALL of Arizona's students for some time. We know that 95% of Arizonans support public schools. 5/
While @BoyerAZ attempts to save the 1 by leaving the 99, he's actually seeking the 1 at the expense and to the detriment of the 99. And of those 99 are the students, abused and/or neglected, who need public schools the most. 6/6
