ok this is hopefully the last thing i’ll say about this situation regarding adam driver for now but there are a few things i’d like to get off my chest personally regarding aggression & “losing one’s temper.” the fact of the matter is that it happens, but it’s never really *okay*
everyone loses their temper. it’s natural! it happens! humans experience emotion, sometimes they cause us to do things that aren’t great. we should embrace that. we should be okay w/ apologizing & recognizing our behaviors as unhealthy and potentially triggering for other people
this is ESPECIALLY true in a professional environment. i don’t know anything about the art of acting; i won’t pretend to understand the finer nuances & principles of it. but i do know that acting is both an art AND a job. being continuously hostile in a work environment isn’t ok
if you get caught up in the moment or caught up in a character, okay fine it happens!! it’s human. but reasoning ≠ justification. it doesn’t mean it’s okay to make your coworkers uncomfortable or scared or upset. all you gotta do is be aware of others and take accountability
on a more personal note: i am saying all of this as someone who has experienced both sides of this same coin. i have had issues with my temper since i was young, and i grew up around people who never made an effort to control their own anger. it sucks, clearly. both sides suck.
and when you factor gender and power dynamics into the situation, it becomes a lot more complex and a lot more easily upsetting. being a person around an angry person is scary. being a woman and having a man scream and hit things in front of you is terrifying. point blank.
anyways thanks for listening to me ramble,,, anger doesn’t make you an inherently bad person or an abuser. It literally no one is calling adam driver either of those, we’re just holding him accountable for what he should be: a grown ass man and a professional
