It’s such a lie to call this plan “community-based, rehabilitative, and restorative”

Lincoln Developmental Center was a youth mental asylum and had a long track record of abuse and unreported deaths. It lies adjacent to two state prisons (Lincoln and Logan) and is not a safe space for anyone, no matter the language the state uses to describe it.
Now @GovPritzker is spending $21 million to recuperate the facility to incarcerate more children.

How many houseless youth are there in Illinois? How many are food insecure? Think about how $21mil could go towards solving these problems instead of criminalizing young people.
Also, how is this plan helping youth in Central IL?? Lincoln is a rural prison town 50+ miles away from the two areas in central IL which commit the most youth to IDJJ.

This isn’t “community-based” - it’s a new prison.
