Did you know it's #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek? Earlier this year some research came out suggesting green spaces have a positive effect on young people's mental health.
Wandering around Norwood today I noticed how many of our amazing green spaces- & ancient woodlands!- are hard to access.
A lack of permeability means taking long, hilly detours & makes spaces feel cut off & uninviting.
Several lead out onto very busy which lack formal crossings and are intimidating to cross.
The wet weather & lack of drainage means some of these amazing spaces are real mud baths and completely inaccessible to anyone needing smooth surfaces to walk over.
As we come out of the pandemic, we need to start thinking about how our urban environment supports health & wellbeing.

Safe, inclusive access to green space is such an important part of this jigsaw.
Let's start thinking about how we're going to make that happen.
