1/..Can we now please move on from the narrative that Capt Tom Moore raised £x millions “for the NHS”? He didn’t, he raised money for NHS charities, ie, Great Ormond St etc and NOT for the NHS directly. The NHS is funded by us, the taxpayer, to the tune of £1Bn every THREE days
2/...Labour have spent months desperately trying to spin this as good old Tom directly funding the NHS by whizzing around his garden to make up the ‘shortfall’ that the hard pressed taxpayer is stumping up for already. However, not so, it’s all gone to multiple NHS charities.
3/...Many are struggling with the concept of an NHS charity. Basically they’re the NHS version of the British Legion/ RAFA/ RNA/ Army Benevolent Fund. When you chip in for these you’re NOT buying a tank, a Type-45 or a Typhoon, you’re helping ex-Armed Forces veterans. Understood?
