So I got new #tcrwp decodables today.... And I'm not impressed. These were given to first graders almost halfway through the year. They're very basic CVC word patterns (left). How do they makeup the difference for grade level text? This giant list of snap words (right).

Compare to a decodable I'm currently using with my first grader. Please keep in mind I taught him all the sounds he needs to read this because #tcrwp was assigning him books with these skills.

They are flailing, and it shows. As teachers start getting trained in the #scienceofreading thanks to state-mandated changes, I hope they recognize how silly and wrong #tcrwp methods are.
