Bell Media has eliminated more jobs. More important, it has terminated some of the smartest people in the business. My heart goes out to my friends and former colleagues and hope they can land on their feet very soon.

As a result of the cuts, Bell has effectively disemboweled the two most important radio newsrooms in its empire, @NEWSTALK1010 and @CJAD800 . These are two of the most historically significant newsrooms in Canada. One of them has my name on it...

"The Dave Agar Newsroom" at NewsTalk1010 was named such upon my retirement nearly 6yrs ago. It was an extraordinary honour. It is no longer. I have asked that the award be removed asap.

We have seen the diminution of journalism around the world for several years. We are the worse for it. It is true good journalism is expensive but think about the price of bad journalism or no journalism. We are racing along that path at our peril.

Suffice to say I'm pissed at Bell. I am angrier that so few people seem to give a shit about the need for more journalists, not fewer, in the search for truth and answers and context.
