Billy Gilmour is a young Scottsman who can play in a variety of positions across the midfield.
He is known for his intelligent reading of the game and his awareness when he is under pressure on the ball. Against Luton town he had 93% passing accuAnalysing Billy Gilmour @_hi_kai_
Billy is also good in the final third, this was displayed in his performance against Morecambe where he registered 3 key passes and created 3 chances while in a box to box role.
Against Krasnodar, Gilmour was excellent in terms of ball progression, having completed 3 dribbles, 3 long passes, and 3 key passes.
Another aspect of his game that tends to go under the radar is his defensive game. Against Krasnodar, he won 3 duels, he also recovered the ball 5 times. ON top of this he has shown excellent ball winning ability in the FA cup.
Despite these matches bieng against slightly weaker opposition, Gilmour has shown he can do it against Premier league opposition, having racked up two Man of the Match awards against Liverpool and Everton respectively. As well as an excellent display in the champions league.
Physically, he isn’t the strongest, nor the tallest. You would think in a holding role that would affect his ability to not only win back the ball, but to keep it. However, this does’t affect his game. His height and lean body type allow him to be much more nimble on the ball...
