FLOW & HARMONY

That might not be what you expect from a book called:

"The Art of War"

But read along:

I will show you my 4 favorite Quotes and Interpretations of Sun Tzu’s timeless Masterpiece

It might be different from what you are used to..

1. “He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.”

There is a time to work and there is a time to rest

Trying to grind all the time will reduce your efficiency

Damage your creativity and quality of work
When you work - work fully

No distractions no thoughts about rest

When you rest - rest fully

No feelings of guilt no thoughts about work
And most importantly learn to say no

When you are resting - say no to offered tasks

When you have to work for a project and your focus is needed there

Say no to new projects or opportunities

Protect your focus
2. “The greatest victory is that which requires no battle”

Instead of competing, try to cooperate

Not only will you feel better about yourself and your undertakings

Chances are high you will also be more successful by cooperation

Aren’t competitors stealing my place you ask?
Only if you look froma perspective from scarcity and not from abundance

By working together with people in your field you learn from each other and become both better

Your competitors are strong otherwise they wouldn't be competition

Use that strength for you not against you
If you are selling a product cooperate with competitors to broaden awareness for your niche to create higher demand

If you do sports learn from your teammates to beat other teams, don't compete in your small circle

Think of the bigger picture not just what is in front of you
3. “Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.”

If you want to achieve something visualize everything that is part of reaching that achievement

See yourself clearly doing every task that needs to be done
If you want to be a boxer, imagine not only the glory of winning that belt

Image the hours of sweat and tears, the pain..

And if you still want to be a boxer, you already won

Because you become a boxer for the sake of being a boxer

Not for the glory
4. “Treat your men as you would your own beloved sons. And they will follow you into the deepest valley.”

Not only from a perspective of morality but as well from a purely egoistic perspective it makes sense to treat everybody with care and respect
People rarely forget when someone generously helped them out when they did not expect it and they mostly want to return the favor in one way or another
Help people when they are low and they will not forget you when they are high

Manners and respect go a long way in all areas of life

Be friendly and tip heavily and the waiter will always get a table for you
Respect your employees, care about them and make them feel valuable. Even overpay them!

They will work more than twice as productive as someone who is unsatisfied

Human interactions are like investments, you have to invest first to reap the rewards later
