After I came out about my stalker a few months ago, I've been receiving numerous DM's from other content creators who are dealing with similar problems. It breaks my heart to see so many people scared to post, to live, to leave their house even.

While my stalking story had a happy ending for the most part (He's a convicted felon now.) there are so many others who can't see a resolution.

So here are a few tips I have for anyone struggling with a stalker, and general good tips for being safe online.

1. Record EVERYTHING. Keep screenshots of every threat you receive. I kept mine in a dropbox for easy access.

2. Go to the police. Even if you don't know their name or address, get it on record that you tried to get help & write down the officer's name & your case number.

3. Don't post personal information. No one need's to know the town you live in. Don't post photos of your home, car, local businesses, nearby locations, anything.

4. Wait to post photos of yourself at events until the event is over. This gives them an idea of your location.

5. File a report with the FBI cybercrime division, and record the date and time you submitted the report.

6. Don't take no for an answer from the police. They ABSOLUTELY can help you and call the stalker's local PD for information.

7. Don't post about being stalked. Any attention you give them will fuel their fire. Talk privately about it to close personal friends and family.

8. Return to the police every time something new happens, and record the date, officer's name, and case number.

9. Search your local laws for orders you can file that will protect you in a domestic abuse situation. A lot of the time this covers stalking and harassment, including gross misuse of technology.

10. If you're able to, find a therapist you can talk to. Stalking can cause PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks, and more. Having a professional to talk to will make a HUGE world of difference in your mental health dealing with this.

11. Unplug as often as you need to. Take breaks from streaming, posting, etc. Take a walk, take deep breaths, get some space away from them. Don't give them a chair to sit on in your mental life.

12. Fuck. Politeness. If someone is making you uncomfortable, you DO NOT owe them anything. Tell them to stop, that their advances are unwanted. Block them. Ban them. If you're wrong you can apologize later but most stalking cases start because you were nice to someone.

I wish I could offer more advice and insight on how to deal with a stalker, I was very fortunate that my state has a Peace order that traveled across state lines. Stay strong, and stay vigilant and remember: Fuck Politeness.

Actually one last piece of advice I forgot to include which is probably the most important:

13. Reach out to your local womens shelters for advocates & resources. They deal with stalking and harassment every single day & know your local laws and your rights, even if you're a man
