We learned a bunch from raising a $3.4 million seed round a few months ago. A thread on what to focus on if you’re planning to raise a pre-seed or seed round soon 👇🏾
There are three main things investors care about when you raise a round:

1. Story
2. Vision
3. Traction

There are others like market, product, team etc. but all of them fall into one of these buckets. 🏆
Story: if you have a compelling narrative, a story of resilience to where you’ve come, or a background that’s very relevant to the problem you’re solving — you should drive your pitch to focus on this. 🚀
Vision: if you have a vision of how the world will change for the better after your product is out in the market, tie this into your narrative as you put together your deck or memo. 💪🏾
Traction: this is always king. If you have a product that is in the hands of users who love it — this tells investors that you know how to not just identify a problem, but know how to build and execute. 💰
You don’t have to have all three of these. Having two out of the three puts you in a great place, and you can get by with just one of them too. They just want to know how you think and whether you can be articulate about it.
Investors at these early stages are truly just betting on people — so telling your story and focusing on what you’re best at will get your round done. Good luck ✨
