On the feast of the presentation of Christ in the temple, I tell the story of St. Simeon, who received baby Jesus into his arms after living in the temple in anticipation of the Messiah. Do you know why? Do you know how long? Well buckle up, babee! 1/5
St. Simeon was one of the men tasked with translating the Old Testament into Greek, known as the Septuagint. While he was translating the book of Isaiah, he came across the passage foretelling the virgin birth. He literally did not believe it. Thought it was a typo. 2/5
So he was going to translate it "woman" instead, but he received a vision from the Lord. Trust me, you don't want a vision from the Lord. 3/5
In the vision, God told him that, for his disbelief, he would live to see the coming of the Messiah and the prophecy he disbelieved fulfilled. So, already an old man, he lived out his days in the temple, just . . . waiting.

FOR 200 YEARS. HE WAITED FOR TWO HUNDRED YEARS!!! 4/5
Can you even imagine? Two hundred years. Quite the sense of humor the Big Guy's got there.

Anyway, that's the story. Hope it makes your day better and makes you grateful for your impending death! 5/5
Oh, and I wrote a song about this story back in 2019! https://soundcloud.com/mattyonke42/sunrise
@EchthWeatherbee, this is my one and only dipping of my toe into electronic music. All just messing around with the tools in logic, but there it is!
