So now with the announcement of "Hydrogen Forward," I spy with my little eye at least SEVEN different industry-led, fossil fuel-bankrolled associations ramming the #hydrogen train
full steam ahead
as a "silver bullet" to all of our decarbonization and climate challenges.

Let's hope this isn't a #TrainWreck nor a distraction from doing what we need to do to quickly electrify our buildings & vehicles and clean up our grid with clean energy solutions we have readily available now, as opposed to continuing our reliance on #dirty fossil fuels.

@DeSmogBlog, @UCSUSA, @CleanEnergyGrp, and @CarbonBrief to navigate the hype/myths and to understand what role, if any, hydrogen has in the #CleanEnergyTransition. Articles below

"Meanwhile, the oil and gas industry is once again trying to disrupt the process, this time with methane-derived hydrogen." - @JustinMikulka for @DeSmogBlog https://www.desmogblog.com/2021/01/14/decoding-hype-behind-natural-gas-industry-hydrogen-push
Six red flags
of hydrogen, per Julie McNamara @UCSUSA:
1. Emissions intensity of blue hydrogen
2. Cost & scalability of green hydrogen
3. NOx emissions from combustion
4. Storage & distribution
5. Conversion of end-use appliances
6. Inefficiency https://blog.ucsusa.org/julie-mcnamara/whats-the-role-of-hydrogen-in-the-clean-energy-transition

In any relationship, one red flag
is ENOUGH - let alone SIX.
Plus, @CleanEnergyGrp shares there is "no serious, intensive investigation" into the public health, emissions, & #EnvironmentalJustice impacts of hydrogen combustion. https://www.cleanegroup.org/hydrogen-hype-in-the-air/

And to complete this
, @CarbonBrief does a very deep dive and answers every question imaginable that you may have on hydrogen, sector-by-sector. https://www.carbonbrief.org/in-depth-qa-does-the-world-need-hydrogen-to-solve-climate-change
